Bioproduction in Africa is currently undergoing a major transformation, marked by a shift from reliance on imports toward a growing ambition for health and industrial sovereignty. This paradigm shift is based on the development of local capacities for the production of vaccines, biopharmaceuticals, and biotechnologies tailored to the continent’s specific needs. In the next few minutes, we will highlight the current dynamics, which rely on international and local partnerships (both public and private), as well as on strengthening local scientific expertise, fostering the emergence of innovation ecosystems, and progressively integrating into global value chains. The objective is to consolidate these advances in order to ensure equitable access to healthcare products and support the continent’s economic development.
