Workshop B3 - The 10 g/L Wall Has Fallen in USP: What Is the Impact on Industrialization and DSP?

Description

Since 2025, double digit titers of proteins of interest (primarily mAbs) have been seen in USP bioreactors from PD to pilot scale. However, these very high titers will impact large-scale purification streams (“DSP”) and drive them to evolve. Process intensification will thus move from scientific buzz to an indispensable reality, which is part of a profound transformation of the industry that began long ago. This workshop aims to visualize the impacts of double digit titers on industrial production strategies, taking into account annual production targets (kg/year) and available technologies. Following an introductory session to establish a common foundation, participants will be divided into working groups. They will then be able to share their experiences and perspectives to develop an industrial production strategy, defining not only the technologies to be implemented but also how to manage the challenges they come along with. Whether you work in production, process development, or quality, this workshop will provide you with insights into the major dynamics at play in the biopharmaceutical industry. It will help you develop the best purification processes and adapt existing industrial infrastructure to handle the "fall of the 10g/L wall".
