Round table C – From Concept to Reality: CALIPSO and the Rise of Predictive Intelligence for Bioprocesses

Description

Launched in 2021 with a budget of €17.5 million (including €8 million of public funding through Bpifrance/PIA), the CALIPSO project has revolutionized bioproduction by developing: - Smart micro‑sensors for real-time process monitoring - Digital twins and integrated databases enabling advanced modeling - Automation solutions paving the way for more personalized and flexible medicine Led by a high‑level consortium (Sanofi, Capgemini, CentraleSupélec, CEA‑Leti, Ypso‑Facto, GPC Bio, BPI), the project aims to increase productivity by up to tenfold, while reducing the costs and development timelines of biopharmaceuticals—which today represent 40% of drugs in development. This retrospective roundtable will explore: - The origins of the project and its concrete outcomes (modeling, automation, clinical applications) - The crucial role of public–private collaborations in accelerating innovation - Future perspectives: how these technologies position France as a leader in agile and competitive bioproduction Why attend? Discover how CALIPSO has transformed industrial processes, optimized costs, and paved the way for more controlled and efficient bioproduction. The roundtable will be followed later in the day by a workshop (Ypso‑Facto and Sanofi) and a talk by GPC Bio and CEA featuring the other members of the consortium.
